On Saturday 7 July 2019, this year’s Christopher Street Day Parade (CSD) took place in Cologne in great sunny weather - a massive show of support for equal rights and acceptance of gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, transsexuals, transgenders and intersexuals.

“Diversity is our programme” – RTL Television at the CSD

Under the banner of “Diversity is our programme”, RTL Television had a float at the CSD in Cologne again for the first time since 2014. Celebrities and staff on the float and marchers took five hours to make their way through the city as “ambassadors of love”.

Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten star Timur Ülker put it this way : “We have to show people that love is the greatest feeling in the world. If we all let more love into our hearts, there would be fewer wars!”

Celebrities on the RTL Television float included Valentina & Cheyenne Pahde, the “Unter Uns-Ringsy” couple Lars Steinhöfel & Timothy Boldt, Kena Amoa, Maurice Gajda, Eric Schroth, Martin Tietjen and Timur Ülker. People from Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland also marched along with the float on CSD.

UFA also attaches great importance to promoting diversity and equal opportunities, attending the parade with a float with Arvato Systems again this year. The UFA float motto was “Diversity is our daily business”.

Over 100 UFA and Arvato Systems employees joined the parade

Markus Schroth

Markus Schroth, Head of HR UFA Show & Factual and be.queer manager at UFA, took the lead in organising participation in the CSD: “This is already our second time with our own float at the CSD parade in Cologne. Along with Arvato Systems, we are making a statement with our motto ‘Diversity is our daily business’ and I think that’s awesome! We’re committed to diversity, equal opportunities and, most importantly, a discrimination-free work place.”

Over 100 UFA and Arvato Systems employees joined the parade. And the Bertelsmann staff network be.queer had their own information stand in Alter Markt, where people could find out about the various Bertelsmann divisions and their commitment to LGBTQI employees.

RTL II was also present at the CSD parade in Cologne. RTL II has been involved with the CSD every year since 2014 and in cooperation with since 2018. This year, the Köln 50667 actors Danny Liedtke and Daniel Peukmann were on their way through the streets of Cologne with the float

Carlos Zamorano, Head of Marketing and Communication at RTL II: “Tolerance towards other identities and ways of life cannot be promoted often enough. RTL II tries to do this every day in its daily soaps, documentary soaps, documentaries and shows. Their stories and protagonists show real life - colourful, varied and surprising. That's why it's such a pleasure for us to be at the CSD in Cologne for the sixth time in a row.”
