The next step in our #RTLunited project is here. Starting from today, 2 May 2022, colleagues from across RTL Group can access the latest Group-wide news and information in a fresh and modern design via a new, easy-to-navigate platform. Alongside improved user experience, our new RTL Group intranet offers a range of social features and enhanced functionalities to bring us closer together and keep us up to date on current projects and news from across the Group.

A joint project

RTL Group’s internal communications team carried out the intranet relaunch together with RTL Deutschland under the #RTLunited umbrella – an important step on our journey to becoming one RTL brand. The set-up offers the option to launch separate, local company intranets on the same platform for all RTL-branded business units, where news and information can easily be shared directly from the RTL Group intranet. The joint project started with the roll-out of RTL Deutschland’s new intranet in December 2021. Following the roll-out of the new RTL Group intranet today, our next step will be a local version for all colleagues in Luxembourg.

Choose your preferred language

On our old intranet, users had to navigate to their preferred the language in the news slider or select the correct button in our newsletter to read articles in German or French. On our new intranet, you can select your main language and an alternative language directly in your personal settings. The main functions of the intranet (for example general settings and profile) and news articles will then be displayed in your chosen language.

For example, if your main language is set to German and alternative language to French, you will see any articles that are available in German first, and in French as an alternative (if the article is published in French and not German). If neither of the languages are available, you will always see articles in our default language: English.

Change your language by clicking on your profile picture and selecting “Settings”. As before, we will continue to publish all articles in English and selected articles in German and French.

A social intranet

For the first time, all colleagues have the chance to like and comment on news articles, and easily find the contact details for anyone within RTL Group. We hope our new social features and user directory will bring everyone closer together. During the upcoming months, we will be introducing new editorial formats to tell more stories about the people and projects within our Group.

Alongside the personalised language options described above, users can also select their favourite pages from the “Quick access” links on the homepage, giving you an easy access to selected content directly on your homepage.

A user-friendly experience

Similar to the old intranet, our content is split into seven main sections: News, RTL, Responsibility, People, Compliance, Policies and Stay connected. Most sections contain Group-wide information on the topic area, while ‘Stay connected’ takes you to the user directory and, in some cases, your local company intranet – a feature which will be expanded in the upcoming months.

Throughout the site, search and filtering options make it extremely easy to find what you are looking for. The search function is personalised to show your search history and recently viewed pages. On the news page, articles are automatically displayed in your preferred language(s), in chronological order and can be filtered by a variety of options, such as topic, business unit, company or country. Here you will find articles published since November 2021, while older articles can be accessed via the “News archive” button, which is found below the search function. These articles will also be added to the site in the upcoming months.

On the homepage, you will find all the most important information in an attractive layout: top news, latest stories, quick access links, contact to the intranet team, social buzz and news streams on specific topic areas, such as responsibility and people news.

A revamped newsletter

Alongside the launch of our new intranet, we have also revamped our daily newsletter in a clean and updated design. Every day, we will continue to send the latest news and inspiration from across the Group directly to your email inbox. This includes news, facts and figures, social media posts, popular stories and articles from across the web – all focusing on RTL and our business units.

How to log in

You can access the new RTL Group intranet by signing in using your usual procedure – for most users, this is via the “Sign in with Microsoft” button. Colleagues with a Gruner + Jahr email address should sign in via “Sign in with Okta”, while colleagues from RTL Nederland should select the “Sign in with RTL NL” button. Depending on your local IT security rules, you might be asked to log in again at regular intervals. Once you have signed in, please accept the cookie banner to have full access to all the functionalities of the intranet. Our new RTL Group intranet is currently available via web browser on desktop, smartphone and tablet. We hope to introduce an app version in the future to offer the latest stories on-the-go.
